Dimapur, April 14 (EMN): A state-level celebration of Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Center Diwas felicitation programme-cum-review meeting was held at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima on April 14.
Addressing the community healthcare workers, the director (health office) of USAID, Sangita Patel, stated that the certificates represented the hard work and dedication over the past several years amidst the Covid-19 pandemic and even beyond. She stated that with Ayushman Bharat, the community healthcare system would continue to improve and people avail better healthcare system, a DIPR report stated.
Informing that success and failure of programme would depend on the participation of all the stakeholders, she appealed the gathering for continued help for its development and growth.
Delivering the keynote address, the joint secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Ajit Ranjan, expressed his appreciation to all the healthcare workers for rendering their service and leadership skills.
In his welcome address, the mission director of National Health Mission, Dr. Thorkhusie Katiry, mentioned that Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) was launched as a step towards universal health coverage (UHC). According to him, UHC entails ensuring all people have access to quality health services including prevention, promotion, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliation without incurring financial hardship.
He mentioned that the concept of UHC covers three key elements namely access, quality, and financial protection. He added that India is committed to achieving universal healthcare for all by 2030, which is fundamental to achieving the other sustainable development goals.
Earlier, awards were given to best performing CHO followed by unveiling of wash learning resource package (poster and iLearn module).
