Nagaland celebrates 58th Statehood Day

Dimapur, Dec. 1 (EMN): District and sub-divisional headquarters across Nagaland celebrated the 58th Statehood Day on December 1. The state function was held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima, which was marked by review of parade by DGP Nagaland John Longkumer, while the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio took the general salute and delivered the Statehood day speech.

A DIPR report stated that march past was performed by 4th NAP battalion DEF Kohima, STF, 15th NAP Mahila battalion and PTS brass band. The parade commander was deputy commandant of 4th NAP Watichujang Jamir and the second-in-command was assistant commandant of 4th NAP, Lucy Yhome.

Dimapur: In Dimapur, the 58th Statehood Day was celebrated at DDSC Stadium in which the deputy commissioner of Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan took the general salute from three parade contingents.

In his speech, the DC remembered all those leaders, who by their sacrifices, foresightedness and determination, ensured the creation of Nagaland state with special constitutional provisions as the 16th state of the India union on December 1, 1963.

He also stated that the state has made significant and enduring achievements in every field since its creation.

“We have seen development and progress, and the quality of life enjoyed by our people has seen a marked improvement, though many challenges still remain,” he said.

On the Naga political issue, he stated that the negotiations between the various Naga Political Groups and the government of India have seen a breakthrough with common ground being reached on various issues and expected everyone to continue with same spirit of understanding and oneness for moving forward to the eventual solution without any delay.

Highlighting different initiatives undertaken by different departments for all round development, DC mentioned the extraordinary situation brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic and the substantial improvement in the health facilities. He also mentioned the co-operation and active support of the people in controlling the spread of the Covid-19 while also reminding the threat that still exists.

While pointing out that a lot remained to be done despite many achievements since the inception of statehood, the DC called upon the public to continue with persistent efforts to ensure that Nagaland comes at par with other states in the country.

Parade contingents of the day included Commissionerate of Police, 15th IR Mahila battalion and 15th IR Mahila battalion pipe band. ABI Neichuzo Rio was the parade commander.

Zunheboto: The Statehood Day in Zunheboto was observed at local ground, Zunheboto town in which the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo, took the salute and also delivered the statehood day speech.

He has highlighted about the dos and don’ts of Covid-19 pandemic, preparedness of the state and various other details of the ongoing pandemic. He also expressed gratitude to all the leaders, who with their sacrifices, foresightedness and determination ensured the creation of Nagaland state with special constitutional provisions as the 16th state of India on December 1, 1963.

Phek: Phek celebrated the 58th Statehood Day at Phek town local ground with the deputy commissioner of Phek, Sachin Jaiswal, as the special guest.

Report stated that           after the function, the District Planning Development Board (DPDB) meeting was also held in which the DC called upon everyone to be attentive in their duties for conducive atmosphere in the district. He also thanked all the members for their cooperation and their support in hard times caused by Covid-19.

Peren: Peren and Jalukie observed the 58th Statehood Day at the deputy commissioner’s office complex at new district headquarters and ADC headquarters Jalukie respectively.

It stated that general salute and unfurling of the national flag was done by the deputy commissioner of Peren and also addressed the gathering. During the function, a song was presented by Keyi Zeliang at the district headquarters.

At Jalukie town, the ADC Dr. Tinojongshi addressed the public. During the function, results of the district-level online quiz competition was also declared.

Pfutsero: Pfutsero in Phek district celebrated the 58th Statehood Day in the office complex of the ADC. The ADC of Pfutsero, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, took the salute and delivered the statehood day speech.

The celebration was conducted by following the Covid-19 protocols. The report stated that department officials and public leaders attended the programme.

Tseminyu: Tseminyu sub-division in Kohima district also celebrated the 58th Statehood Day at the Additional Deputy Commissioner’s office with SDO Tsutsowe Kupa as the special guest.

The programme was chaired by Rosy Sangtam, EAC (Tsongi) under Tseminyu sub-division and attended by all the heads of department.

Medziphema: Medziphema sub-division in Dimapur district celebrated the 58th Statehood Day at ADC office’s complex with the additional deputy commissioner, Medziphema, Thsuvisie Phoji as the chief guest.

The 11th NAP (IR) battalion Ruzaphema led by parade commander Inspector W Tiatemjen Ao took part in the celebration. It stated that selected head of departments attended the statehood day programme.

Pughoboto: Pughoboto sub-division in Zunheboto district celebrated the 58th Statehood Day at the ADC office’s complex. The tri-colour was unfurled by the SDO  Longasen Lotha, who also took salute from the DEF Pughoboto and also addressed the gathering.

The programme was attended by the officers, DBs, GBs and others.

Tening: Tening sub-division in Peren district observed 58th Statehood Day at the ADC official residence, Tening. Tumben P Tsanglao, EAC, unfurled the national flag and also addressed the gathering.

Government official from different departments, GBs and public leaders attended the statehood day celebration programme.     

Changtongya: The 58th Statehood Day celebration at Changtongya headquarters was organised at SDO  office’s complex with Moakumzuk Tzudir, SDO  Changtongya, as the chief guest. He unfurled the national flag and also took salute from the parade contingent represented by police station in Changtongya.

Meluri: The 58th Statehood Day celebration at Meluri in Phek district was observed at local ground, Meluri, with the ADC Meluri, Temjen Chuba, as the chief guest. Report stated that all government employees and head of offices under Meluri sub-division attended the programme.

Bhandari: Bhandari sub-division in Wokha district celebrated the 58th Statehood Day at the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) office’s premises. It stated that Sulanthung, SDO , took salute from Nagaland Police (NP) Bhandari and delivered the statehood day speech.

The occasion was attended by head of offices, Dobashis and government employees. Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC Bhandari, chaired the programme.
