DIMAPUR — The nomination papers of the two candidates, one each from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) and Indian National Congress (INC), filed for the upcoming 43-Tapi Assembly Constituency bye-election, were found valid in the scrutiny done on Saturday.

The candidates were declared qualified to contest the Tapi bye-election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly as their nomination papers were found to be correct after the scrutiny held in the office of the SDO(Civil) Hq and Returning Officer, Rongsenmenla, in the presence of General Observer Patibandia Ashok Babu, said an update from DPRO Mon.

It added that the representatives of both the candidates from the NDPP and INC parties attended the scrutiny process on Saturday.

The NDPP has fielded Wangpang Konyak and the INC, Wanglem Konyak for the bye-election to the 43-Tapi constituency, which is scheduled to be held on November 7.

The last day of withdrawal of nominations is October 23, while the counting of votes will be conducted on December 3.

The Tapi assembly seat was left vacant following the demise of NDPP sitting legislator and Advisor of Social Welfare, Noke Wangnao in August this year, just months after he was elected to the NLA for the ninth time from the same constituency.
