Nagaland board declares HSLC, HSSLC exams 2021 results; girls outperform boys, again

Dimapur, July 20 (EMN): The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) declared the results of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations 2021 on Tuesday, and yet again, girls outperformed boys.

The NBSE conducted HSLC examinations from April 7 to the 21st and HSSLC exams from April 6 to the 21st, just weeks before lockdown was imposed in the state amid the second wave of Covid-19.

In HSLC exam, 16388 candidates out of the total 23608 enrolled students qualified the examination with a percentage of 69.42%, according to the official update from NBSE.

The pass percentage was 70.03% in 2020, 68.29% in 2019, 66.01% in 2018, 70.19% in 2017, and 65.42% in 2016.

“The girls have again done better with 8719 girls qualifying and 7669 boys qualifying the examination. In the Top 20 list, there are 82 candidates out of which 24 are boys and the rest i.e. 58 are girls,” read the update.

Girls outperformed boys in HSLC exams last year too, and in 2019 as well.

The number of candidates who secured 80% and above, in aggregate, is 1732, out of which 20 of them are from government schools, according to the update.

23 govt. schools have zero result

A total of 120 schools secured 100% pass percentage, out of which 95 are private schools and 25 are government schools. This year, 23 schools, all government institutions, have zero result.

The pass percentage of government schools in this year’s HSLC exam is 44.86%, compared to 47.40% in 2020, 43.32% in 2019, 40.77% in 2018, 42.60% in 2017 and 32.81% in 2016.

In terms of district-wise performance for government schools, Mokokchung topped the table with a pass percentage of 64%, followed by Peren and Phek districts at 60%, while Kiphire is at the bottom with 10%.

Noklak district topped the chart in terms of private schools with a pass percentage of 95%, followed by Mokokchung at 91%.

HSLC compartmental exams 2021: A total of 745 candidates were enrolled, out of which 461 qualified with a pass percentage of 61.88%.

HSSLC examination 2021

A total of 16834 candidates were enrolled for the HSSLC examination 2021, wherein the overall pass percentage in Arts stream is 69.37%, Commerce stream is 74.39%, and

Science stream is 91.35%.

The pass percentage of HSSLC exams in 2020 was 71.87% for Arts, Commerce- 75.47%, and Science- 80.99%.

Girls outshone boys this year too with a pass percentage of 75.34% in Arts (boys- 62.68%), 80.67% (boys- 70.27%), and 95.11% in Science (boys- 87.62%).

In terms of top 10 rank holders, four are girls and 12 boys in Arts; seven girls and five boys in Commerce; and eight each in Science.

 “It is heartening to mention that there are three toppers from Government Higher

Secondary Schools in the merit list at the HSSLC Examination 2021,” said the update.

The NBSE informed in its update that both the HSLC and HSSLC examinations were conducted following all SOPs in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Some students were tested Covid positive and so a re-examination was conducted from 22nd June 2021 to 25th June 2021, for these students who could not appear in some or all the subjects. The results could be declared along with the main results with the active cooperation of all the schools and teachers,” it informed.

 HSLC and HSSLC exams 2021 results can be checked on NBSE official website (www.nbsenl.edu.in), NBSE Nagaland (www.nbsenagaland.com), India Results (www.indiaresults.com), Results Shikha (www.results.shiksha), Schools 9 (www.schools9.com), Exametc (www.exametc.com), and Jagranjosh (www.jagranjosh.com).  The results can also be accessed on Android Mobile App NBSE Results 2021 on Google Play and via SMS by sending NB10<space>ROLL NUMBER to 56070 for HSLC results and NB12<space>ROLL NUMBER to 56070 for HSSLC results.

The NBSE had earlier informed that it would issue the provisional result gazettes to all the registered institutions from July 28 through the centre superintendents, who can collect and distribute to the schools under their centre.

The notice went on to add that marksheet could be downloaded on NBSE official website, India Results and Results Shikha.
