Dimapur, Sep. 5 (EMN): National Commission for Women (NCW), in collaboration with the educational boards across India, has launched a comprehensive ‘Gender sensitisation and legal awareness programme’ for the students of classes 11 and 12.

This was informed in a press release issued by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) on Saturday.

It stated that through the programme, NCW has shared two booklets namely ‘Gender sensitisation’ and ‘Laws relating to women’ which are available for download in the NBSE website and NCW website.

“The issue of gender sensitisation has become crucial to understand the sensitive needs of a particular gender. It has become essential to educate the masses on gender issues so as to instil in every citizen the awareness of being sensitive to the gender issues,” NBSE statement read.

It added that NCW is planning to conduct an online test based on these booklets for students of classes 11 and 12, tentatively by 2021. The question paper would consist of 50 multiple choice questions (MCQ) type where 25 questions would be from the booklet on gender sensitisation and 25 questions on laws relating to women.

While informing that there would be no negative marking, it stated that there would be prize money for the toppers. It also announced that certificates would be awarded to all the participants, while the schools with maximum participants and 70% scores would also be awarded a trophy.

NBSE also stated that the names and contact numbers of all heads of the institutions registered with the board would be forwarded to the NCW, which would in turn contact the schools for further details about the online test.

The main idea of the competition, according to NCW, was to educate and create awareness among the students on gender sensitisation and the laws relating to women.

NBSE further requested all the schools to share the booklets to the students and encourage them to participate in the programme.
