Nagaland BMC members showcased biodiversity-based products at the IDB 2026 celebration in Bhopal.

DIMAPUR — Members of Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) from Nagaland, supported by the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board (NSBB), participated in the celebration of International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2026 at the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal, on Friday.
According to an update, the BMCs from Nagaland participated in an exhibition on the sidelines of IDB 2026, where the SHGs from the state displayed biodiversity-based products at the stall allotted to NSBB.
The Nagaland stall was visited by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Minister of MoEF&CC Bhupender Yadav, and Minister of State for MoEF&CC Kirti Vardhan Singh.

The dignitaries and officials of the MoEF&CC noted and appreciated the enthusiasm shown by the members of BMCs from Nagaland in their efforts to conserve biodiversity and local traditions.
The self-help groups participating in the event are supported by the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board under the Forest and Biodiversity Management Project (FBMP).
The exhibition and the event commemorating the International Day for Biological Diversity were jointly organised by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA).
The pre-IBCA summit event on cheetah conservation was also organised on the sidelines of the IDB celebrations at IIFM, Bhopal.
International Day for Biological Diversity is observed on May 22 every year to commemorate the signing of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992, the update stated.
