Dimapur, April 1 (EMN): The Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) joined what a press release on Monday called the “Main bhi chowkidar” (Hindi for ‘I am a chowkidar too’) video conference.
The unit, led by its State President Temjen Imna Along, joined the interaction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with people from about 500 locations in the country, on March 31, a press release issued by the unit on Monday, stated.
The central location of the program was Delhi where Modi sat with “fellow chowkidars,” the unit asserted.
On March 16, Modi launched the “Main Bhi Cowkidar campaign,” claiming to ‘redefine’ the word chowkidar (Hindi for watchman or gatekeeper).
According to the press release, the prime minister said, “Everyone who is fighting for poverty, corruption, dirt, terrorism and other social evils is a chowkidar.”
The unit claimed that “more than one crore people have taken the pledge on NaMo App and social Media.”
