DIMAPUR — Two Nagaland-based design studios, TRIBOLT and Urra Enterprise, have been recognised in Architectural Digest (AD) New Wave 2026, which features 25 emerging Indian design practices across architecture, interiors and product design.
According to Architectural Digest, TRIBOLT, founded in 2019 by designers Ajung Yaden and Atem Longkumer, reinterprets Naga craft traditions through contemporary forms shaped by local materials, carving techniques and indigenous ways of living.
The Nagaland-based furniture and interiors studio works closely with Naga artisans and youth, using reclaimed and locally sourced wood while allowing grain, texture and natural imperfections to guide the final object.
The publication stated that TRIBOLT’s work ranges from hand-hewn furniture to sculptural tableware and “balances restraint with warmth”, while positioning design as a means of preserving craft knowledge, identity and intergenerational dialogue.

Urra Enterprise, established in Nagaland in 2014 by designer Aku Zeliang, was also recognised in the list. According to the publication, the practice works with indigenous materials and artisan knowledge from Northeast India in contemporary furniture and spatial design.
Architectural Digest stated that Urra Enterprise works extensively with bamboo, cane and regional weaving traditions while focusing on sustainability through material choices and collaborations that support local livelihoods and preserve inherited skills.
It added that collections such as Tekirak transform wild bamboo and rattan into sculptural collectible pieces rooted in research, storytelling and material experimentation.
The AD New Wave 2026 list, presented by JSW with associate partners KOHLER, Simpolo Tiles & Bathware and ENDO Lighting, recognises emerging Indian design practices working across architecture, interiors, craft and object design.
