DIMAPUR — After years of performing together and quietly shaping their identity, a Nagaland-based indie pop/rock band SunDay has officially released their debut single, ‘Maybe (Again)’.
An update issued on Tuesday informed that the song written by guitarist Imsuakum Kichu in the year 2022 remained an idea waiting for the right moment.
Four years later, in 2026, the band has finally brought the song to life in the studio. Produced, mixed, and mastered by Pongtsu Jamir in Nagaland, the single marks not only SunDay’s first official release but also the beginning of a journey the band has been building toward for years.
‘Maybe (Again)’ is said to be about loving someone you know you can never truly have. Rather than dramatising heartbreak, the song embraces the quiet weight of longing, unanswered questions, and emotions that often remain unspoken.
SunDay consists of vocalist Nukshijungla Kichu, guitarist Imsuakum Kichu, and drummer Yathi Lemtur. Although each member comes from different musical backgrounds and listens to different genres individually, they naturally meet in the middle, creating a sound that blends indie pop and indie rock with sincerity and emotional storytelling.
Before releasing ‘Maybe (Again)’, the band has been performing together, developing the chemistry that now defines their songwriting and live performances.
‘The name SunDay carries a simple but meaningful idea. Just as Sunday marks the beginning of a new week, the band hopes each song can be the start of something new for the people who listen—a memory, a feeling, or a story they can return to,’ the update further informed.
Maybe (Again) is only the first chapter. With more singles already in the works, followed by an EP and eventually a full-length album, SunDay is committed to building a body of work that grows naturally over time.
