Kohima, Feb. 11 (EMN): Elaborating on the motto of Angami Gazetted Officers’ Krotho (Agok) ‘For the welfare of the people,’ the president of Angami Public Organisation (APO), Razouvotuo Chatsu, reminded the members to continue their service for the welfare of its community.
Chatsu stated this during the 39th annual conference of Agok held at RCEMPA in Jotsoma on Friday. He urged the members to have concern and help the community basing on its motto.
Stating that many persons from Angami tribe have earned professional, technical and academic degrees and are engaged in government sectors, he reminded the members to continue being in the service of its citizens. Chatsu also called upon the government officers to be more welcoming, approachable and helpful in guiding whoever comes to their offices for different reasons and purposes.
Also speaking on the occasion, Dr. Neikiesalie Kire, advisor of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, emphasised on the need to hold frequent meetings on small or big issues for more understanding among the members. He also urged the members in catering to the needs of their community and also reach out to rural areas by extending help to needy people.
Meanwhile, Agok president Dr. Kedozeto Punyü informed that there are about 1500 members working in different departments at present. Acknowledging how the association came into being in 1983 with the wisdom and farsightedness of the pioneers with KK Angami as the first president, he informed that there are about 1415 regularised Agok members in the government service including IAS, IPS, NCS, NPS officers etc.
Punyü went on to inform that there are about 188 members in the School Education and 124 in the Medical departments. He added that about 111 are working in Higher Education, 102 at the Secretariat and many more appointed in various other departments.
He further informed that "Agok badze," a multi-utility centre of the association at Meriema, Kohima, is on the verge of completion. He stated that the building would have halls, mini hall, deluxe rooms, restaurant, kitchen, parking facility etc. He also acknowledged the assistances rendered by the former chief ministers Neiphiu Rio and Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu towards the construction of the building and added that the facility would not only be opened for Agok members but also for civil societies and the public.
K Neibou Sekhose, Agok vice president, sought the support from all concerned members towards the speedy completion of the complex. He reminded that being in the capital city, taking initiative in coming up with a multi-utility facility, only showed their responsibilities towards the public.
Meanwhile, Agok has elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2022-24 led by Dr. Neilasa Sopfu as president and Nongozo Rikha as general secretary.
In his speech, the president-elect has sought cooperation and support from each member in working towards the welfare and uplift of the association.
