Nagaland: Angami Students’ Union issues code of conduct for students

Dimapur, April 1 (EMN): On learning about various detrimental activities being committed by students both within and outside the premises of many educational institutions, the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) has issued a code of conduct keeping in mind their wellbeing.

ASU vice president and convenor of grievance cell, Kevilelhou Zumu, and education secretary, Thepfurüya Theünuo, have sought co-operation and support from everyone on this matter.

It stated that any student found in alcohol joint, cyber cafe or other places in uniforms during school hours would be unacceptable. In such cases, ASU informed that the proprietors of alcohol joint and cyber cafe would be equally penalised. It added that students found roaming about in uniform during class hours would be thoroughly checked and monitored.

ASU warned that any student in uniform found indulging in immoral activities both inside and outside the school would be penalised. Besides, it cautioned that any threat or any form of disrespecting the teachers etc., would not be tolerated adding report of such incident would be met with stern action against the erring student.

It stated that any student in uniform, who are found taking any intoxicants or any form of abusive substances, would not be tolerated. It warned that such defaulting students, if caught or reported, and on confirmation of such acts would be seriously dealt with.

ASU also stated that students in uniform below 18 years should not drive vehicle and warned of action if caught. Reaffirming the standing resolution, ASU has totally prohibited use of government vehicles for dropping and picking up of students from schools.

It added that any case of abuse amounting to harassment of students would also not be tolerated.

The union has further prohibited sale of any tobacco product in and around educational institutions. It warned that violators would be liable to any action by the union for the welfare of the students.
