Nagaland: Amphitheatre inaugurated in Phiro village

Wokha, Nov. 26 (EMN): An amphitheatre in Phiro village under Wozhuro Rural Development block of Wokha, which was constructed under the 15 Finance Commission (FC untied) 2022-2023, was inaugurated on Saturday by the director for Rural Development, Liboni Humtsoe.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Humtsoe has expressed gratitude to the Wokha District Village Development Board Association (WDVDBA) for their sincere effort in successfully implementing the project. She also thanked the land owners for their generosity in donating the land for the construction of the amphitheatre.
Liboni stated that the amphitheatre in Phiro village was first of its kind in Wokha district which was constructed under 15 Finance Commission (2022-23). Highlighting many projects and schemes provided by the government to develop the areas, she urged the village functionaries especially the village development board (VDB) to be transparent and judiciously utilise the funds and implement the schemes as per the specifications and guideline for the benefit of the community.
She also informed that the department of Rural Development has taken up a scheme called RGSA. Besides, she stated that with an objective to give recognition to the VDB, government of India has introduced National Panchayath Awards (NPA) for the best performing VBD.
She further sought cooperation from the village community towards the village functionaries and implementing agencies so that schemes and projects are appropriately implemented.
In his welcome address, the president of WDVDBA, Mhondamo Shitiri, thanked the director for taking keen interest and initiating the project. He also thanked the land donors namely Late Shandamo and Late Khvudemo Odyou and families for generously donating the land to construct the amphitheatre.
Short speeches were also delivered by DRDA project director of Wokha, P Koza; general secretary Nagaland State Village Development Board Association (NSVDBA), Manthungo Kikon; vice president, Dr. Imli; chairman of Phiro Village Council; and representatives from the land donors.
