Dimapur, July 14 (EMN): Adhoc town committee (ATC) and GBs of Ahthibung town along with four surrounding villages in Peren district undertook social work to repair the road between Ahthibung town and Old Chalkot on July 13.
An update on Tuesday stated that a joint team comprising of members of ATC and GBs of Ahthibung town along with the residents of Inbung, Songlhuh, Old Chalkot and New Chalkot repaired the stretch of road by draining pools of logged water and filling them with sand gravels.
Besides, the joint team also cleared roadside foliage and overgrown grass between Old Chalkot and Saijang, which obstructed the view of drivers and commuters, posing a grave danger to the public.
It mentioned that vehicle owners of the villages that participated in the social work and the SDO (Civil) Ahthibung, Rupfukutuo Noudi, came forward with financial contribution, which helped in procuring 10 loads of sand gravel. It added that the Assam Rifles and Police department extended their help in transportation and providing refreshment.
Meanwhile, the organisers expressed gratitude to the four village councils for their prompt participation and to everyone who participated in order to make the social work a grand success.
