Dimapur, Dec. 27 (EMN): A song was released in tribute to the Oting village incident on December 4 where more than a dozen of innocent civilians were killed by the Indian army.

An update issued on Dec. 27 informed that, the song, ‘Just A Smile Will Do,’ is an original music video dedicated to the memory of the precious lives lost at Oting village in Mon district.

‘Heartbreaking and painful, two words that continue to echo in our souls following the shocking human rights violations and killings at Oting on December 4, 2021 and subsequent fallout the next day. With this song we want to reach out to the mourning and bereaved with the message that the entire world has witnessed the ugly side of a country that prides itself as the largest democracy in the world while unleashing armed attacks upon unarmed civilians. This reflects an authoritarian and occupational mindset focusing on territorial integration rather than emotional integration,’ the update read.

Filmed and recorded at Ozuki Studio, individuals involved in the making of the song are:

Music and Composition: Arep Changkija

Lead Vocals: Zaza

Accompaniment on Tenor and Alto: Arep and Athili

Keyboards/Strings: Akok Imsong

Guitar and Recording: Atsa

Mixed and Mastered: Kibu

Video: Toshi Longchar
