Kohima, Sep. 29 (EMN): Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Sharingain Longkumer on Tuesday flagged off the ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ organised by the 78 Bn CRPF contingent posted within Nagaland at the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat in Kohima.

Speaking as the chief guest, Longkumer said that the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is the largest para-military force and has been serving the country well by contributing their services tremendously for the people.

 He said that he is encouraged to see the participants taking part in Fit India Freedom Run, ‘to be fit and healthy.’

He maintained that the Fit India Freedom Run was launched by the Union Minister for Youth Resources and Sports, Kiren Rijiju on August 14, 2020 which was later launched in the state on August 29 by the advisor for Youth Resources and Sports in Kohima; ‘a movement to lead people to stay healthy and fit.’

He said the movement is to find out one’s strength and added, “Once only we find our strength we will be able to move forward.”

The speaker later flagged off the run in the presence of commissioner and secretary NLA, P. J. Antony.  Personnel from the battalion led by Commandant Surender Singh, officers, sub-ordinate officers, jawans, families and children of 78 Bn, CRPF participated in the run.

An update from the military sources also stated that the 78 Bn, CRPF started a special virtual run campaign for a period of one month from September, 1 to October 2, 2020, commemorating the ‘Fit India Freedom Run.’
