According to the director of Economics and Statistics department, Y Sacheo Ovung, the survey was conducted by the department as 'proper and quality data is the prerequisite for proper planning at different levels'.
“This survey report will be the most important document for all leaders to know whether the villages are enjoying the basic required amenities,” he said.
Presenting a brief report on the survey, the joint director of Economics and Statistics department, Neidilhou Angami, said the main objective of the survey was to collect information about the major basic amenities available in all the 1238 villages of 74 RD blocks in 11 districts, for an inclusive system of planning in the state.
In the course of the survey, it was found out that one village -- Dikoi under Chümoukedima block in Dimapur district -- was placed under suspension and therefore, in total 1237 villages were surveyed, he said.
In the survey, he said, the department has come up with '40 major basic amenities', which are available in the villages, with January 31, 2020 as the survey dateline across the state.
'These are some of the important survey findings which we have come out with after a lot of thorough cross checking, comparison, analysing, telephonic conversation with the respondents to clear any discrepancies and validating the survey data with the administrative data of the department concerned to arrive at the final figures,' he said.
Further, in the survey publication, a separate database for the state has also been arranged for the 11 districts and all the 1237 recognised villages under 74 RD Blocks, which will be extremely valuable to the policy formulation at the grass-root level, he added.
