Nagaland: 62nd Jakhama Annual Sports Meet to conclude on Sunday

62nd Jakhama Annual Sports Meet to conclude on Sunday

Kohima, Nov. 19 (EMN): The 62nd Annual Jakhama Sports Meet organised by Jakhama Youth Organisation (JYO) will conclude on Sunday evening at Jakhama local ground in Kohima.

Altogether the eight clans of Jakhama — Sophietso Khel, Phema Khel, Khatso Natso Khel, Kulnu Khel, Naki Khel, Pfüdia Khel, Porütso Khel and Zhotso Khel — are competing in men’s football and volleyball events for both men and women, which commenced on November 18.

On Saturday, in the men’s volleyball event, Naki Khel defeated Khatso Natso Khel in the first semi-final while Zhotso Khel defeated Sophietso Khel in the second semi-final match.

With the win, Naki Khel will take on Zhotso Khel in the final match on Sunday noon.

In the women’s category, Pfüdia Khel defeated Kulnu Khel in the first semi-final match while Khatso Natso Khel beat Sophietso Khel in the second semi-final match.

The final match will commence between Pfüdia Khel and Khatso Natso Khel simultaneously at 12 noon on Sunday.

In football, Kulnu Khel will take on Khatso Natso Khel in the first semi-final of the men’s football at 12 noon following which Zhotso Khel will play against Phema Khel before the final.

Khulto Khazo, games and sports secretary of JYO informed that a total of 160 footballers including an equal number of volleyball players from the eight clans of the village are participating in the three-day sports meet.
