Nagaland: 2323 people trained under DDU-GKY

As many as 2323 people have been trained under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay-Grameen Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY) scheme from 2014 to February 2022, out of which 901 have been provided placement.

This was informed by the Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in a written reply in Lok Sabha on March 15.

The DDU-GKY is a placement linked skill development programme for rural poor youths in the age group of 15-35 years, which has been implemented by the government since September 2014.

Nagaland has also received a total of INR 6712.146 lakh under DDU-GKY scheme till date.

The DDU-GKY guidelines earmark 50% of the funds for SCs and STs and 15% for minorities. Further, one third beneficiaries of the respective categories under the scheme should be women.

The scheme has helped youth from poor rural families in accessing free of cost skilling programmes and has been providing skilling options in 616 job roles till now and imparting required and relevant skills to rural youth.

The Union Minister of State for Rural Development also informed that the DDU-GKY provides placement of minimum 70% of trained candidates providing them with jobs having regular monthly wages.

According to the cumulative performance of NE states under DDUGKY from 2014-15 till Feb 2022, Assam has the highest number of trained candidates with 54319 under DDU-GKY scheme, out of which 33126  have been provided placement; followed by Tripura with 6860 trained candidates, out of which 4210 have been provided jobs.

Manipur is placed in third position with 2958 trained candidates, and 1049 have been provided placement, followed by Meghalaya with 2633 trained candidates and 1197 have been provided placement.
