Nagaland: 1st Chümoukedima District Football League 2022 kicked off

Dimapur, Sep. 17 (EMN): The 1st Chümoukedima District Football League 2022 organised by Chümoukedima District Football Association (CDFA) was kicked off by Jacob Zhimomi, Minister of PHED on Saturday at Chümoukedima local ground.

The league will conclude on October 1, 2022. It was informed that eight teams will be participating in the league — Medziphema United FC, Sovima United FC,  Eimi Brother’s FC ,  Naga United FC, Gorkha Panthers FC , United Falcon FC, Chümoukedima FC  and Piphema FC. 

The prize money for the winner is INR 1.5 lakh, 80,000 for the runner- up, while player of the tournament will win INR 10,000 and INR 5,000 each for best keeper, best defender and best mid fielder. 

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Zhimomi said that the greatest asset the state has is human resources, which are the youths. He described the characteristics of the youth in the state as “well informed, dynamic and capable” to take on any eventuality.

He therefore said the state is blessed to have this young generation who will be taking the torches ahead.

He also said that the long pending Naga political issue is at the doorstep with the sincere efforts of both the parties– the GOI and the political groups. “We have been negotiating to arrive at a logical conclusion, and therefore we must create a conducive atmosphere as the citizen of the state.” 

He further stated that sports is one medium which has brought many countries and communities together. “We also aspire to build Dr. T Ao Football Academy to fulfill the visions and aspirations of our youth today who are pursuing the career of sports”, he stated.

During the ceremony, artiste Kekhrie Ringa also enthralled the audience with her soulful voice.
