Nagaland: 17 projects approved under NESIDS

About 17 projects worth INR 333.62 crore have been approved for Nagaland under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) in education, health, power, roads and bridges, and water supply sectors since 2019.

Out of the total amount, INR 147.93 crore has been released while INR 121.24 crore has been utilised. 

According to the NESIDS, there are three projects under the education sector — implementation of educational infrastructure related to IT projects in 190 schools across Nagaland approved on May 10 2022 and scheduled to be completed by May 31, 2024; in-service teachers’ training cum examination centre with residential facilities approved on March 3, 2021 and completed on March 31, 2022; and construction of 92 separate girls toilet in government schools approved on March 29, 2020 and completed e on March 30, 2022.

Strengthening of health systems for the management of COVID-19 pandemic with special reference to combat the impending third wave of the pandemic in Nagaland; strengthening of health infrastructure of various health facilities and strengthening health infrastructure for comprehensive response to possible outbreak of COVID-19 were the three projects in the health sector approved by NESIDS.

Scheme for providing stable power supply to Mon district was the project approved under the Power sector on Aug. 29, 2019 with completion scheduled for March 30, 2022.

Under the roads and bridges, nine projects were approved which included construction and upgrading Glory Peak Tourist Road under Phek district approved on May 10, 2022 with the completion scheduled for May 30, 2024; upgrading Longnak-Mangkolemba road in Mokokchung district  approved on April 20, 2022 and scheduled completion on April 30, 2024; upgrading  the road and bridge from NH-29 at 7th Mile Model Village to Seithekema C tourist destination onwards to Governor’s Camp from Ch.0.00 to 10.5 km approved on Oct. 9, 2019 and completion scheduled on March 31, 2020; development of tourism-related  infrastructure (road with Heliport) at Tuophema tourist village approved on Oct. 9, 2019 and completion scheduled on March 31, 2020.

Upgrading of road from Kiphire to Tourist Destination at Zungki River, Kiphire district was approved on Aug. 30, 2019 and completion was scheduled for March 31, 2020; providing connectivity to places of tourist interest in the district HQ of Tuensang district was approved on Aug. 30, 2019 with completion scheduled for March 31, 2020; widening of road from NH-29 (Sovima village Gate) – Sovima Cricket Ground upto Thahekhu village, Dimapur in Nagaland was approved on Aug. 29, 2019 and completion was schedule for March 31, 2020.

Upgrading road from Naga Lempong to Ahom Cave trekking point, Longleng was approved on Aug. 29 2019 with completion scheduled for March 31, 2020; and upgrading of road from Wokha HQ to N Longidang was approved on Aug. 29, 2019 and completion was scheduled for March 31, 2020.

Under the NESIDS water supply project, development of tourism-related infrastructure at Tuophema tourist village was also approved on Sep. 3, 2019 with completion scheduled for March 31, 2020.
