Naga youth to attend Global Entrepreneurship Summit at Kuala Lumpur

ABOKALI Yevito Sumi from Kohima has been selected along with Santoo Chakraborty of Kolkata among 41 US Department of State’s young entrepreneur delegates from 105 countries to the Global Startup Youth (GSY) and Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) which will be held from October 8-10 and October 11-12 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.Abokali Sumi is the founder of Organic Nagaland Agri & Allied Cooperative Society, and Head of YouthNet Centre for Entrepreneurship & Employment.
Interacting with media persons at Dream Café, Kohima on Friday, director YouthNet, Hekani Jakhalu said that YouthNet was nominated to be a part of the GES 2013 where a Naga youth will also be representing Nagaland as well the country at the summit. She explained that the summit was first held in 2010 in Washington DC, USA, hosted by US President, Barrack Obama and the 2013 Summit will be the first in East Asia.
Abokali narrated the selection procedures and expressed her enthusiasm for being selected as delegate to the GES 2013. She said she is excited to be a part of the programme to exchange ideas with youth from different countries and showcase Nagaland at a global level. She maintained that it was not just about her, but the youth of Nagaland and the YouthNet that has been nominated.
Associate director YouthNet, Joshua Sheqi acknowledged that the opportunity is reflective of the state government regardless of the political parties. He said if the state government focuses on young people, the latter are ready to shine in any field.
Strategist at YouthNet, Lezo Putsure said the nomination of a Naga youth to attend a global summit is a “proud story” to tell. He expressed gratitude to the US government for the opportunity.
GES 2013 is being organized by the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia, under the theme ‘Empowering and Connecting Entrepreneurs’. The Summit is envisaged to empower and connect entrepreneurs from around the world. The GES will also feature top-draw speakers from across the globe who will present cutting edge topics in the field of entrepreneurship under four distinct tracks that encompass the entire entrepreneurship ecosystem: Building an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, Creating Tomorrow’s Game-changers, Emerging Trends, and Connecting for Growth.
On the other hand, Global Startup Youth (GSY) is a side event of the GES supported by the Ministry of Finance, Malaysia, and organized by StartupMalaysia.org. GSY will see 500 young hackers, hustlers, domain experts and youth leaders from at least 60 countries (including Malaysia) come together. The youth will join hands to work together on ideas and develop prototypes to solve current global challenges.
