DIMAPUR — Naga tribe hohos and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Saturday, October 18, reaffirmed their collective commitment to uphold the “historical and political rights of the Naga people” and to resist any form of division among Naga political groups.

The meeting, held at Hotel Japfu in Kohima, marked the 17th in a series of consultations convened between January and September this year involving the Naga tribe hohos, Naga political groups (NPGs), and the FNR, informed a press release issued on Sunday.

Reiterating the need for unity, the tribal bodies and the FNR affirmed that no Naga political group should “self-isolate” from the shared pursuit of reconciliation, describing such isolation as “hurting the sacred journey of the Naga people.”

The declaration further asserted that the formation of new Naga political factions would not be accepted by the tirbe hohos, NPGs, or the FNR, maintaining that “fragmentation is a departure from the path of reconciliation.”

They unanimously affirmed that each Naga tribe hoho remains the apex body of its respective tribe, and that no other forum or organisation should supersede its authority — a move aimed at safeguarding the integrity of tribal representation and honouring the ancestral mandate entrusted to each hoho.

The gathering also reflected on the position of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), acknowledging its legitimate aspirations for socio-economic and political development, while appealing for unity within the ‘Journey of Common Hope.’

Resolutions

Gratitude to the NPGs: The tribal bodies and the FNR expressed appreciation to the NPGs for their “magnanimity” and urged them to meet regularly and purposefully to converge on common Naga rights and “nurture a common Machang.”

Advent programme: The meeting resolved to hold an Advent programme on Sunday, November 30, 2025, as a gesture of spiritual humility and renewal. The FNR will finalise details of the event in consultation with the NTHs and NPGs.

“This declaration is offered in the spirit of covenant, not mere minutes. May it serve as a lamp for the path ahead, and a gentle summons to walk together,” it asserted.
