Kohima, Sept 9 (EMN): The Naga Students’ Union Kolkata (NSUK) observed its 53rd annual freshers’ meet at Bishop’s College in Kolkata on Saturday under the theme “Refulgent authenticity”.
Former DGP Nagaland, L L Doungel, who attended the event as the guest speaker, called upon the students to explore their interest and acquire knowledge which can benefit them in their career.

Students should be anxious to learn and acquire knowledge and then curve out the two-bits to become a refined individual, he said while citing an example of the great artist Michelangelo Buonarroti’s word “Every block of stone has a statue inside and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it”.

The speaker also encouraged the students to take advantage of the city as it offers ample opportunities and platforms to explore their interest.
Unlike other cities, he said Kolkata offers an environment with less social distractions and for which he urged the student to discern wisely of the advantage.

The NSUK president, Thepuzo Keyho expounded on the theme “Refulgent authenticity” urged the students to be ‘original and genuine and to shine brightly with their authenticity.’

“Someone’s opinion of you does not have to be your reality, and the trend of the society should not define your contentment,” he said.
Vile C Nywu and Tiajung Imsong were adjusted as Mr and Miss Freshers 2018 respectively.
Ranbeni Ngulie DRC Nagaland house Kolkata and different Naga pastors were also present for the occasion.
