Dimapur, July 6 (EMN): The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has placed several issues, including the Indo-Naga political problem and Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) before the chief minister of the state through a representation.

The federation stated that it is committed to the Indo-Naga political issue and “remains undeterred in upholding the cause that is just, fair and righteous”.

While lauding the PDA government for forming the Core Committee on Naga political issue, it appealed to sincerely and proactively work towards ensuring that peace and unity prevail among the Nagas, and all the Naga political groups (NPGs) and civil society organisations come together under one table for an early, inclusive, honourable and acceptable solution to the protracted Naga issue.

It also appealed to the government to ‘liaise with the Government of India to expedite the process of Indo-Naga political dialogue with the negotiating parties and ink the final agreement.

The federation stated in its representation that e-Governance be used as a tool to maintain transparency and check corruption. It appealed to the government to make information like schemes, programmes, list of beneficiaries, incumbency list, post creations, vacancies, progress report of the department etc. available in public domain.

It also urged to enhance interaction with citizens through use of internet and mobile technologies.

Touching on Covid-19 related issues, the student body said the pandemic has caused untold hardships to students and public as many have been “left with no resources at their disposal to meet their day-to-day requirements”.

However, it said “the future of the students and the society cannot be compromised” and every possible efforts should be made to salvage the grim situation. In this regard, it appealed to the government to strictly implement “no work, no pay” policy for government teachers, order all schools to announce fee waiver, and maintain accountability in utilisation of Covid funds.

On NSSB, the federation urged the government not to further delay its implementation and “resolve the reservation policy in the state within the legally permissible jurisdiction”.

The federation went on to state that it is ‘committed to ensuring the joint agreement signed in 2020 pertaining to the nationalisation of SSA and RMSA teachers of 2010 and 2013 batches is materialised in letter and spirit’.

“The federation shall no longer tread lightly on the matter if the state government does not honour the aforementioned agreement,” read the representation.
