The NSF office at the Naga Club Building in Kohima was vandalised by unidentified miscreants in the early hours of Saturday.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]Addressing the gathering of the past and present student leaders, advisor to the Information and Public Relations, Soil and Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen, recounted how the NSF leaders helped reclaim the building (now vandalised) to its rightful owners -- Naga Club -- from the department of Forest in the 1980s.
Imchen, who was the general secretary of NSF then, recalled that rooms (as office) were allotted to the ANCSU, Oking Press, Naga Mothers’ Association, and Naga Elders Conference besides the NSF office after it was reclaimed.
He said the spot (office) is significant for all the Nagas. "From here, the history was made," the legislator said, adding that the NSF is the "rightful inheritors" of the legacy of the Naga Club.
Condemning the act of vandalism, he said it is not the way to do things in the modern society.
NSF President Kegwayhun Tep told Eastern Mirror the incident was painful as it is more than an office.
'When we talk about the significance of this building, many misunderstood that it is just the NSF issue, but this the house of the entire Naga people. Major events took place here,” he said, adding that words are not enough to express the pain.
