Dimapur, August 13 (EMN): The Naga student Forum of Mangalore (NSFM) conducted its 10th “fresher’s meet” on August 13 at Summer Sands Resort Ullal in Mangaluru.
The chief guest of the day was Kevin Mendonsa, journalist at The Times of India.
A press release from the organisers on Sunday informed that 58 students attended the programme. Kaini Cecilia, welcomed the chief guest and the new students. She told the students that as they have ‘come out of their comfort zones and are made to swim in the deep sea, one has to face the challenges and swim against the waves and achieve the goals and dreams, get the pearl which is deep down the sea instead of collecting the empty shells which are out on the sea shore.’
In his address, Kevin Mendonsa encouraged the students not only to ‘get their academic certificates and be contented but go beyond the academics such as entrepreneurship.’
He told the Naga students that they had a major role in promoting the Naga culture and traditions. Likewise, he encouraged them to work toward removing the misconception that the Naga people ‘still live in jungles, dressed in leaves, living on tree tops, and that one needed a passport to visit Nagaland,’ ht updates explained.
Also, Chobo Rose Kin and Roziio Romanus were adjudged the Miss Fresher and Mr. Fresher, respectively during the event.
