Naga Solution not delimitation, says NGBF

Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): The Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF) has demanded solution to the Indo-Naga political issue, and not delimitation exercise in the state of Nagaland.

In a letter addressed to Governor RN Ravi, who also functions as the Centre’s interlocutor for Indo-Naga talks, the federation stated that it was “astonished to learn” that New Delhi had announced the delimitation committee members, with the lone Lok Sabha MP from Nagaland as one of the members.

“While the Naga people eagerly await the conclusion of Indo-Naga political talks, the proposed delimitation exercise, if takes place in Nagaland, would pose a serious question on the sincerity and commitment of the GOI and your good office in particular. Our people will naturally feel betrayed because the hope for an enduring peaceful co-existence, as agreed upon in FA on August 3, 2015 with NSCN (IM) and in the preamble or agreed position signed between GOI and NNPGs on November 17, 2017, raised the bar of expectation.

“We are aware that post-solution, delimitation or similar democratic exercise shall take place in Nagaland and other Naga areas without altering the state boundaries and therefore we are convinced that delimitation exercise should not be applied to Nagaland,” read the letter.
