- DIMAPUR — The
Naga Research Scholars’ Forum Shillong (NRSFS) has expressed deep concern over
the recent appointments of assistant professors in the Higher Education
Department without adhering to the proper protocol and due procedure under the
Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC).
- While extending support to the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union
(DNSU), NRSFS has strongly condemned the biased appointments of assistant
professors in the Higher Education department.
- An update from NRSFS stated that recruitment of candidates
to those posts without subjecting them to the mandated NPSC process was a harsh
blow to the aspirations of dedicated and deserving candidates, who have
tirelessly committed themselves to academic excellence.

- It added that such actions compromised not only the
credibility of education system but also the future of the Naga youth. Besides,
the Forum stated that it was a clear disregard and disservice to the
hardworking scholars or aspiring educators, who have invested years building
their qualifications.
- It stated that the academic community deserves a recruitment
system that recognises qualifications, upholds fairness and free from backdoor
entries, political influence or favoritism.
- “What future can we expect for the education system in
Nagaland if qualified and committed individuals are denied the opportunity to
impart knowledge, while unqualified and undeserving candidates — lacking the
necessary academic credentials — occupy their rightful places? If this trend
continues, the future of education in Nagaland looks dark and uncertain,” the
Forum pointed out.
- NRSFS has urged the state government to immediately address
the injustice and restore the integrity of the recruitment process.
- It demanded that the appointments made in violation be
revoked immediately and that a thorough investigation be initiated to identify
and hold accountable those responsible for the unthinkable action.
- It also demanded a fair and transparent recruitment based on
merit and nothing less adding that the standard of education cannot and must
not be compromised for personal or political gain. It stated that the issue
must be rectified without delay.
- It further stated that NRSFS, as an academic forum, would
remain committed to upholding the integrity of academia and always stand in
support of those who courageously and boldly speak out against injustice.
