Naga rallies in Ukhrul and Kamjong demand a political resolution to the Manipur crisis and withdrawal of Assam Rifles

IMPHAL — Rallies were held in Ukhrul and Kamjong district headquarters on Thursday under the aegis of the United Naga Council (UNC), demanding a political resolution to the ongoing crisis in Manipur and the withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Naga-inhabited areas.
In Ukhrul, about 84 km north of Imphal, the rally was organised by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), the apex body of the Tangkhul community.
Participants, many of them women dressed in traditional red attire, marched from Tungrei junction and Mission ground before converging at the district headquarters ground.
Representatives of Tangkhul organisations subsequently submitted a memorandum to the government of India through the district administration.

A similar rally was held in Kamjong, about 150 km northeast of Imphal. Participants began marching from Police Gate and Kamjong High School Gate before converging at Awontang traffic point.
The rallies raised three key demands: a resolution to Manipur's ongoing political crisis, an end the proxy war in the state, and the withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Naga-inhabited areas.
The organisations also claimed that more than 32 Naga civilians had been killed since the outbreak of violence in Manipur.
