DIMAPUR — The Naga People's Front (NPF) and National People’s Party (NPP), Nagaland State Unit, have welcomed the recent historic gathering at Ungma village, Mokokchung district, where Naga Political Groups, tribal hohos, and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) came together and issued the ‘Ungma Statement.’
In a press release, the NPF stated that the coming together of different groups is a clear sign that unity and reconciliation are possible when leaders and people choose dialogue and understanding.
“The NPF appreciates the tireless efforts of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation, the wisdom of the NPG leaders, the guidance of tribal hohos, and the hospitality of the Ao Senden and the Ungma community for making this meeting a success.
“The NPF believes that the spirit shown at Ungma is a ray of hope for the Naga people and will strengthen the journey towards an honourable and lasting solution,” the release stated.

In a separate statement, the NPP Nagaland State Unit termed the ‘Ungma Statement’ as a “bold message that unity is not beyond reach.”
“For decades, the Naga people have longed for healing and an honourable solution. What unfolded at Ungma is more than an agreement; it is the spark of a collective awakening that dialogue and reconciliation are stronger than division.”
The NPP Nagaland acknowledged and applauded the tireless role of the FNR, the courage of Naga leaders, the wisdom of tribal hohos, and the open-hearted hospitality of the Ao Senden and the Ungma community.
“Their efforts have proven that hope can be turned into action,” the party stated.
“As a party rooted in the vision of peace and people’s progress, the NPP calls upon every Naga to keep this flame of oneness alive — in prayer, in goodwill, and in cooperation. We reaffirm our full support to any sincere effort that advances unity, peace, and the political aspirations of our people,” it added.
