On the breezy evening of March 15, Dimapur Rengma Baptist Church was the place for music lovers to be in. It was where some of the brightest musicians from the state’s music scene had gathered on Saturday to play a fundraiser for displaced Rengma Nagas in Assam. The Rengma populations in Assam are currently struggling to rebuild their lives following persecution from Karbi tribal militants during December. 2013. Rengma church hosted an evening of music featuring local classical music hero Nise Meruno, Dimapur rock outfit Alobo Naga & The Band and multi-instrumentalist Joey Woch. Various other musicians from the local scene also accompanied their performances, for the about one-hour event. The event was a quiet affair, with a sizeable but appreciative audience soaking in the array of pop, rock and classical music the artistes performed. Nise Meruno performed with his voice group Zowie Madrigal, while Alobo Naga & The band had assorted artistes including guitarist Moa Longkumer from UDX.
