Naga lad wins world tomato society photo contest

Kohima, Sep. 22 (EMN): A photograph of harvested cherry tomatoes by T Thungdemo Ovung has won him the covetous ‘World Tomato Society Photo Contest 2020 #Showusyourtomatoes. According to the website of the World Tomato Society, Ovung from India and Vasilica Dubreu from Romania were declared winners of the contest.

“The 2020 #Showusyourtomatoes photo contest has taken us across the globe to lovely gardens, family life, tasty tomato bites, and beautiful tomato art,” the organisers stated on its website.

While congratulating the winners, the society stated that it was the first contest held on its new website and has termed it as ‘a milestone achievement for all of us’.

The World Tomato Society comprises of 925,000 members globally, who want to save seeds, ensure their food supply is safe, be informed of the latest technology on breeding, and understand debates around food justice issues.

The World Tomato Society, meanwhile, stated its goal is to ‘preserve tomato diversity- our food feature’.
