Dimapur, Oct. 21 (EMN): The Political Affairs Committee of NPCC discussed the current political developments at its meeting held at Chumoukedima on October 21. An update issued by NPCC president K Therie informed that the house “appreciated the sincerity shown by GOI”.
“People feel 22 years of negotiations in over 100 meetings have left no stone unturned in the discussions. The aspirations as well as the givable are known. In negotiations, it is give and take and therefore, people do not expect the solution to be one-sided,” read the statement.
The house has appealed to all negotiating groups to hear the voice and aspiration of the people for peace, corruption-free and progressive Nagaland, saying that the state is in a pitiable condition, people are tired and fed up with delay.
While accusing the state government of failing to outline the aspiration of the stakeholders, the Congress stated that “post solution is the hope.”
“The problems of post solution will be gigantic for which we require an efficient, transparent, effective and committed administration. The NPCC feel that no political party should exploit but all should help to evolve a strong machinery to implement,” read the statement.
“The present settlement must bring back system in the Governing. The welfare of the people should be first and not the welfare of a corrupt few. Aggrieved families, orphans, widows and genuine Naga National Workers must be resettled honourably so as to sustain their normal life and allow generations to inherit a peaceful and progressive life,” it added.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Party has also expressed its appreciation to all stakeholders specially the Tribal Hoho, NGBA, churches and other NGOs for rendering untiring and sincere efforts to explore possible avenues for honourable solution. It has appealed to all the political groups to solve their differences and unite in the interest of the Nagas and future generations.
“While hammering out the solution, contemporary political realities have to be taken into account and in the same breath preserve and protect the special provisions provided in the Constitution of India with more clarity to safeguard the legitimate rights of the people and their land and its resources,” it stated. “Nagaland Pradesh Congress shall render all possible support to fructify decades of negotiations into reality.”
