The donation was part of the company’s corporate social responsibility activity. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of V-Guard Industries, 40 ambulances were donated to various hospitals across the country, said Nilotpal Bhattacharjee, the company’s branch-in-charge for the Northeast states. Out of 40 vehicles, six different vehicles were given to the Northeast states including Assam (two), Meghalaya (one), Sikkim (two), and one for Nagaland. The primary objective was to reach out to the underprivileged areas, Bhattacharjee said. Managing director of the Naga Hospital, Dr Thorhusie Katiry said that the institution has only one “serviceable ambulance” at present. He thanked the company for providing the hospital with an ambulance, which is ‘in need of the hour.’ The driver for the vehicle and maintenance of them will be taken care of by the hospital, he said.
