Even as there has been opposition from some sections of the Lotha organizations, the Naga Hoho today asserted that it would be holding the 10th general session at Wokha on November 25 and 26 under the theme “Commitment and Responsibilities”.Briefing media-persons at Hotel Japfu here this evening, Convenor Organising Committee and vice president of Naga Hoho K. Inaka Assumi said that the Hoho came to know about the internal difference between the Kyong Hoho and some of the Lotha frontal organizations only through the local newspapers.
He also said that there is no official communication from the Kyong Hoho, which is affiliated to the Naga Hoho and therefore the Hoho would be going ahead with the general session in Wokha. He also went on to express that the impasse between the Kyong Hoho and some of the organizations/ individuals is their (KH) internal problem and since KH is affiliated to Naga Hoho and they are willing to host the general session, we will go ahead with the scheduled programme.
He said the general session will be “an open space for anyone to talk freely about the grievances and ideas as every individual has responsibility towards the Naga society”.
Member organizing committee Vipopal Kintso supplementing Inaka said it was the KH offering to host the general session in Wokha during the federal assembly of the Naga Hoho. He therefore said since Kyong Hoho is the apex body of the Lotha Nagas, “we do not expect any untoward incident happening during the conference. Nonetheless, he said that if anything happens the Lotha frontal organizations will be solely held responsible.
Achumbemo Kikon, also member in the organizing committee asserted that it was the Kyong Hoho that organized the recently celebrated premier festival of Lotha Nagas ‘Tokhu Emong’ in Wokha, which was also joined by all the Lotha people without any disturbance.
Therefore, it is only few vested interest (Lotha) people in Kohima and Dimapur trying to mislead the Nagas. He said the sabotage of those people will not work as Naga Hoho is a matured organization and will be not bow down to such threatening. He also asserted that Wokka is a place for every Naga and the session will be held without any disturbances.
Further Inaka said that the threat given by the sections of Lotha people will not have any effect on the session while also adding ‘let us not blow the issue out of proportion’.
Furthermore, while expressing suspicion that there are some major under currents trying to politicize the entire issue, he said Naga Hoho is an apex body of the Naga people formed/constituted considering the aspirations of the Naga tribes down to the village and area levels. He also asserted that NH will continue to work for the welfare of the Naga people.
Lest he hinted that if a body was to formed by only few like-minded people, Nagaland would be floated with organizations without any mandate from the tribes.
Asked as to why the session does not have any chief guest for the two-days, Inaka said having VIPs would be being formal, but we want to have more free deliberations in the interest of the Naga people. “We want to have brainstorming session without being formal,” he added.
He also expressed the hope that the session would be very successful as there are already 153 delegates assuring to join from the South Nagas (Manipur), besides minimum of 20 delegate each from all the tribal units under Naga Hoho within Nagaland.
He however said that the Hoho has not sent any formal invitation to the Myanmar (Eastern) Nagas, but if they want to then they can do so unofficially.
