Naga Hoho stands by resolution
Dimapur, August 19 : The Naga Hoho stands by its decision to demand keeping ‘in abeyance’ the Nagaland government deciding to reserve 33% for women in municipal bodies–but have advocated “women empowerment.”
The organization issued a brief note on Friday stating to have resolved to “advocate women empowerment by creating various opportunities.”
During the organization’s presidential council meeting in Kohima town on the 19th, the note stated, the platform “reaffirmed to stand by the Naga Hoho resolution in regard to the woman reservation at its 4th Federal Assembly (2008-2013) held on the 24th of August 2011, at Kohima…”
During said event, the note read, the assembly resolved that “it has been observed that it is still pre-mature to introduce 33% women reservation in Naga society and therefore the house resolved to advocate women empowerment by creating various opportunities”.
