Naga Hoho seeks solution to Naga issue before Christmas
DIMAPUR — Naga Hoho has urged the Centre and the NSCN (IM) to settle their differences and find a solution to the vexed Naga issue before Christmas.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the organisation stated that the Framework Agreement was signed in 2015 after over 80 rounds of negotiations spanning 21 years.
Despite the perpetual extension of ceasefires “under four other prime ministers, none of them had the inclination or courage to deliver what was promised,” it stated.
“The political settlement is the only panacea for the Naga people to ‘underscore the rights of the Naga people and to live as one people under one pavilion,’” it added.
Also, the Naga Hoho regretted what it stated was the Centre’s insincerity towards resolving the Naga political issue.
“The negotiating parties must take all sections of people into confidence to avoid dissensions in the future. The solution should be inclusive and honourable whereby durable peace shall reign in our land.
“Naga Hoho further appeals to all the Naga political groups to come together and put the Naga political issue forward…to prepare a common landing ground,” it stated and appealed to the public to “air their views and opinions, participate in the peace process.”
It appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fructify the agreement arrived at after decades of negotiations with the stakeholders and deliver on his promise to bring a solution to the protracted Naga political issue.
“A flickering ray of hope is still with the BJP government at the Centre to fulfil the aspiration of the people by giving an honourable settlement based on the Framework Agreement (FA) by this Christmas,” it stated.
