Dimapur, December 29
Naga apex civil organizations Naga Hoho, Naga Mothers’ Association and Naga Students’ Federation today had a joint meeting in Dimapur in regard to the prevailing situations in Zunheboto and Rengma Hills, Karbi Anglong.
The joint meeting condemned the December 21 incident at Zunheboto and also the threat issued to the Rengmas in Karbi Anglong by the Karbi Militants in strongest term.
With the joint resolution of the meeting to impress upon the NSCN (IM) leaders, the three organizations had a joint meeting with the NSCN (IM) top leaders at Cease Fire Monitoring Cell at 4th Mile Dimapur and strongly demanded to hand over the culprits to the administration through the civil societies in order to prevent the situation from further flaring up, Naga Hoho president P. Chuba Ozukum, NSF president Tongpang Ozukum and NMA president Abei-u said in a joint release.
However, it was quiet unfortunate that the NSCN (IM) leaders could not give any positive response to the demand and instead they have referred the matter to the collective leadership, the release said. As such, an ultimatum was sent to the collective leadership to consider the demand in order to solve the situation which they themselves have created, it added.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Naga Hoho, NMA and NSF will leave for Zunheboto to show solidarity to the people.
Another delegation of the three organizations will also leave for Guwahati to meet Assam Chief Minister to apprise him of the sufferings of Rengma Nagas at the hands of Karbi militants in Karbi Anglong.
