Naga flag won’t be sold for the sake of hastening Naga solution, says NSCN (IM)
Dimapur, April 27 (EMN): The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) on Tuesday stated that the Naga flag would never be sold for the sake of hastening Naga solution and that it wasn’t asking permission from the government of India to use it but reiterating its stand not to obstruct “the usage of our flag which is our honour and political identity”.
The NSCN (IM) came down heavily on Union Home minister Amit Shah through a press release over his alleged statement made in connection with the Naga flag during a meeting with the chief minister of Nagaland in Delhi.
Reacting to report that Shah reportedly expressed willingness to hoist the Naga flag on Naga Day if invited for the occasion while refusing to grant a separate Naga flag and constitution to the Nagas, the group described it as “a terrible sense of humorous insult to the Naga people”.
“How can somebody in a high position have the temerity of playing drama and tamasha on such sentimental issues that are inseparable for Naga political solution?” it asked.
“The elusive Naga political issue cannot be undermined by giving the Union Home Minister a freewheeling power to make a meaningless statement bereft of political drive towards Naga political solution,” it stated, adding that anyone is welcome to hoist the Naga flag “but not in the manner to belittle the Naga political issue”.
“Crucial outcome of the Indo-Naga political talks are to be made with the consent of the two parties with the full knowledge and blessing of the Prime Minister and not necessarily by the Ministry of Home Affairs, GoI which is not the authorised platform to make any official statement on Naga political solution at this critical stage,” it added.
