Dimapur, June 25 (EMN): The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighters from Nagaland made a statement at the Matrix Fight Night 9 (MFN) at Siri Fort, Delhi, on Friday night.

All three fighters, Arsenba Ozukum, Imkongsunep Jamir and Avizo Lanamai, from The Combat Academy, Nagaland, picked up dominant victories on the undercard.

Arsenba “Nightmare” Ozukum opened the night against Bishwamitra of Manipur in a Flyweight contest. Ozukum who was dictating the fight with his low kicks, gave no room for Bishwamitra to make a comeback in the fight. In the last round, Bishwamitra tried to get into a frantic brawl but this offered little trouble to Nightmare, who won a memorable pro debut while securing a unanimous decision victory.

Imkongsunep “Cerebral” Jamir made a big statement in his fight against Kapil Kumar as he secured a second-round TKO. Jamir was scheduled to fight Sahil Rana initially but an injury to Sahil brought Kapil into the picture. He dominated the fight throughout the two rounds with his ground game and took home a comfortable win. Jamir is the first pro MMA fighter from the State and his pro record stands at 2 wins and 0 losses.

Avizo Lanamai made it a perfect 3 wins out of 3 fights for Nagaland with a brilliant performance against Abhishek Negi. Lanamai was in the driving seat throughout the three rounds and took home the unanimous decision win at the end. Avizo, making his pro debut, did most of the striking against an opponent from a striking background.

All three fighters, Arsenba Ozukum, Imkongsunep Jamir and Avizo Lanamai, train with Coach Khriemelie Metha, at The Combat Academy, Nagaland, which is one of the best MMA gyms in the country.
