Naga fashion designer Liezietsu captivates audience at Northeast Festival in Delhi
KOHIMA — Renowned Naga fashion designer Khrielasier Liezietsu captivated audience as he showcased his works at the ongoing Northeast Festival in Delhi, presenting his latest collection on the inaugural day of the fest.
The festival, organised at MDC National Stadium in Delhi, was inaugurated by Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along.
Representing Nagaland, Liezietsu joined other designers from the northeastern states to highlight the region’s rich cultural heritage through fashion.
The three-day festival, which began on Nov. 15, celebrates the vibrant culture, traditions, and diversity of India’s northeastern region, bringing together the seven sisters and Sikkim in one platform.
Each year, the Northeast Festival serves as a bridge between cultures, attracting thousands of visitors with its array of traditional handicrafts, indigenous cuisines, music, dance, and contemporary fashion inspired by local designs.
The festival is also a hub for discussions on tourism, economic development, and social issues affecting the Northeast, aiming to foster greater understanding and connection among people from different parts of India.
Music and dance performances are central attractions, featuring local folk dancers, tribal rhythms, and contemporary bands, offering a glimpse into the region’s artistic excellence.

Liezietsu shared Eastern Mirror his delight at being the sole designer from the state, wherein each state is represented by one designer. He stated it was a good opportunity to showcase his designs and creations while anticipating more collaborations and platforms.
Liezietsu’s collection was one of the highlights of the opening day, reflecting Nagaland’s heritage while blending traditional motifs with modern aesthetics. The designer’s participation showcased the creativity and talent thriving in the state, reinforcing the festival’s aim of celebrating the Northeast’s cultural richness on a national platform.
