Naga Council issues final warning to DMC candidates

Dimapur, Jan. 16: The Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has once again asked candidates to the Dimapur Municipal Council elections to withdraw their nomination papers latest by January 17 ‘in the greater interest of the Naga people’. According to a press release, the NCD on Monday held an emergency meeting to discuss the ‘present ULD election crisis’, and unanimously reaffirmed the resolution adopted by JCC on January 15 last at Lotha Hoho Ki. “The council also warns that failing to comply with the order, the Naga Council shall fully endorse and support whatever decision JCC (comprising Ao, Lotha, Sumi, Angami and Chakesang) takes in accordance with the Naga Customary law. “Further, the NCD directs all the candidates irrespective of all political parties including independent candidate and tribal Union office bearers to report at Lotha Hoho Ki (DC court junction) at 9 am sharp failing to which the NCD, GBs and DUCCF of Dimapur were (sic) collectively take stringent action against the absentee,” the NCD press release stated.
