Naga Club accepts APO, KVC recommendations

The Naga Club in a press release stated that in the matter of the Naga Club Building issue, the club has agreed to accept the recommendations of the Angami Public Organisation (APO) and the Kohima Village Council (KVC)

DIMAPUR — The Naga Club (NC) has agreed to accept the recommendations of the Angami Public Organisation (APO) and the Kohima Village Council (KVC) in regard to the Naga Club Building issue.

The NC in a press release stated that in the matter of the Naga Club Building and the plot of land on which it stands, the APO and KVC, “with a great moral responsibility,” had stepped in to mediate between the NC and the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF).

The council stated that after a thorough and meticulous study of the facts of history and according historical propriety its rightful place, and by the rational application of mind, APO and KVC passed “resolutions and recommended the same for adoption by both the NC and the NSF.”

According to NC, the principles of the resolutions include:

  • That the matter of ownership and construction must be left to the Naga Club.
  • That on completion of a multi-storied building, some rooms will be given to NSF for their office.
  • That the Naga Club building be used by all Nagas of the entire Naga homeland with proper understanding.
  • That the NSF may be allowed to use the building for the office till August last 2023 (w.e.f. 1st July 2023).

“The Naga Club sincerely appreciates and acknowledges the careful and thoughtful initiatives and wisdom of APO and the KVC, and the efforts taken by both the respectable organisations in goodwill. The NC supports the principle of ownership as determined by the APO and KVC based on the Naga history,” the council stated.

The Naga Club went on to state that it has agreed to accept the APO and KVC recommendations and “shall firmly stand by it in good faith and goodwill to bring closure to the matter as is also earnestly desired by the APO and KVC.”
