Naga Christian Fellowship conclave in Chennai concludes
DIMAPUR — The Naga Christian Fellowship (NCF) conclave, hosted by NCF Chennai and themed ‘Stand firm’, concluded on November 12 at the Trans World Radio India Resort in Kanchipuram, Chennai. It had commenced on November 10.
According to a press release, the biennial meeting, NCF conclave, is held under the aegis of the Nagaland Missions Movement (NMM), the mission department of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), with the objectives of fellowship, learning, and strengthening.
This time, the conclave was attended by 28 delegates from 22 NCF units, as well as officials from NBCC and NMM.
In his address, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho, general secretary of NBCC, lauded NCF for the role it has played in moulding and mentoring people, particularly the Nagas, in the cities over the years, of which he is also one, and encouraged the fellowship to continue the legacy.
He spoke about the role of the church and encouraged the pastors, as leaders/captains of the church, to have the right confession of Christ, adding that just as tiny seeds grow into big trees over time, so will the congregation. He asked them to never grow weary while serving the Lord but to serve God faithfully with patience and perseverance.
Rev. Andrew, secretary, NMM (NBCC), spoke on the occasion about the leadership crisis, stating that society and the church in particular are facing a scarcity of good leadership today. He emphasised the significance of leaders today imitating Jesus as a role model.
Toshi Jamir, NMM’s coordinator of research and training, shared how important the second greatest commandment of loving others is, yet how often it is taken for granted. He added that if the first commandment is faithfully obeyed, the second is designed to flow simultaneously.
In his keynote address, the NCF Forum convenor, pastor Wapangtoshi, thanked NMM for organising the NCF conclave, describing it as a time when the pastors and church leaders from the various NCF units would come together, hear from each other, and discuss ways and means for improving and furthering the ministry of NCF.
Meanwhile, the release mentioned that the new NCF Forum team will include Wapangtoshi, pastor, NCF Chennai (convenor), Pulovilli K Awomi, associate pastor, NCF Happy Valley (treasurer), Toshi Jamir, pastor, NCF Mysore (member), C Hamyan Phom, pastor, NCF Mumbai (member), and Dr. Bendang, pastor, NCF Dibrugarh (member).
The next conclave will be hosted by NCF Guwahati in 2025.
