Naga American Foundation announces annual scholarships

Dimapur, Dec. 6 (EMN): The Naga American Foundation (NAF) has announced the launch of Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships are open to all Naga/ Naga-American students enrolled in higher education studies in the United States.

An update from NAF secretary Justin Aier stated that the organisation would give away a total of four scholarships amounting $500 each during 2020-21 scholarship period. He added that two scholarships would be awarded to undergraduate students and another two scholarships to graduate students. It hoped that the scholarships would be of small assistance to the Naga students in the United States.

Interested candidates are asked to submit an essay on their experiences as Naga/ Naga-American students studying in the US. Earlier applicants are encouraged to apply under the provision that they are not past scholarship recipients.

The deadline to apply has been set at 11:59 pm (ET) on December 31 and the winners would be announced by late January 2021. Interested candidates are asked to visit its website nafconnect.net/scholarships.

The Dr. Aryo Shishak Memorial Scholarships are named in honour of Dr. Aryo Shishak, an early pioneer of the NAF and a former president and board member of the organisation. Dr. Shishak passed away on September 24, 2017, and in October 2017, the NAF announced the renaming of its scholarships in memory of Dr. Shishak’s decades-long service to the NAF and the Naga community in the US. NAF has awarded scholarships to 15 students till date.
