NABARD launches ITDP in Tuli
Tiakala Ao along with CECS members and farmer beneficiaries during the launch of the integrated tribal development programme in Tuli town on Thursday.

DIMAPUR — National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), in collaboration with Community Educational Centre Society (CECS), launched the ‘Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP)’ in Tuli under Mokokchung district on Thursday.

An update from NABARD stated that the programme would support 200 tribal families for development of fishery and poultry along with banana and tapioca plantation.

“The integrated tribal development programme aims to promote economic empowerment, bring individual farmers as a whole and promote sustainable livelihood for the communities through the establishment and support of fish farming,” it stated.

The inaugural programme was held at FRMCA Hall in Tuli town with the general manager of NABARD, Tiakala Ao, who also inaugurated the project followed with releasing of fingerlings at Aopenzu.

Tiakala, in her address, encouraged the farmer beneficiaries to put their heart and soul into the project. She also stated that the fishery project at Tuli is the first-ever project supported by NABARD in the state of Nagaland and expressed optimism that the project would bear positive outcomes.

Director CECS, Subonenba Longkumer, in his key note address, encouraged the farmers to work diligently towards attaining self-sustainability. He also thanked NABARD officials for making the project a reality.

SDO (C) of Tuli, Nungshimatong; SDAO of Tuli, Temjentoshi; and village council chairman, Kangtsung, also spoke on the occasion. The programme concluded with distribution of fish nets to the beneficiaries.
