Imphal,July 8 (EMN): Manipur Chief Minister N B Singh presented ‘Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Award-2016’ to Maurice Yengkhom on July 8 at CM’s Secretariat.
The civilian award ‘Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Award’ was conferred by President of India and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to Maurice Yengkhom in recognition of his courage and selfless act when he saved his cousin brother Hijam Rodin from electrocution at Yaiskul on May 8, 2015. The civilian award consists of Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Award 2016, Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Medal, Miniature Medal, Certificate and a cheque of Rs. 60,000/- the DIPR reports stated. It is worth to mention that, in 2015, Maurice Yengkhom was awarded “National Bravery Award-2015” by Indian Council of Child Welfare, New Delhi.
Maurice Yengkhom is the son of Yengkhom Junu Singh and Vinita Devi Elangbam of Yaiskhul Police Lane, Imphal. He is presently studying in class 11 at Sagar School, Rajasthan.
