Myanmar to host ‘Border Trade Business meet’ with NE states

Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): A Myanmar business delegation from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry (UMFCCI) led by Wang Yu, Managing Director of Shwe Naung Yan Co.Ltd and UMFCCI member visited Manipur at the invitation of Indo-Myanmar Association and Manipur Chambers of Commerce and Industry. This was informed in a press note from UMFCCI.
The visit was aimed at finding ways and means to enhance bilateral trade including for border trade between Myanmar and Manipur. The team visited Manipur for four days from July 17 to 21, 2017.
During their visit, the UMFCCI members met various business organisations, associations, firms, entrepreneurs including Business Excellence Group (BEG), Manipur, Indo Myanmar Association (IMA), Manipur Chamber of Commerce and Industries (MCCI) where they had detailed discussions on the potential of enhancing the bilateral trade and smoothening the Border Trade between Manipur and Myanmar.
Wang Yu informed that Myanmar will be hosting a ‘Border Trade Business meet’ involving four states of North East India – Myanmar during the 2nd week of September 2017 in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. A strong 120 member delegates from four North East states – Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh are expected to take part in the meet said the press note.
Wang Yu said ‘there is a need for Myanmar and NE States to work together to convert the great potential for string bilateral business relations particularly between the North-east states and Myanmar and usher in co-prosperity on both sides of the border’.
He also acknowledged and expressed his appreciation to former Nagaland Chief Minister and Lok Sabha M.P Neiphiu Rio for his contribution in building business relations between Myanmar and North-East Region India. Also the Myanmar delegation expressed appreciation to Manipur Business Association and Chamber of Commerce & Industry for taking keen interest in furthering the commercial relations.
