Politicians do not buy votes. Majority of 'WE NAGAS' sells vote directly or indirectly, that’s the root cause of all problems and we are "THE CREATOR" of our own mess. So, let’s stop the hypocrisy of blaming only the politicians when it's ‘picture clear’, that the foundation of all the issues and problems confronting our society today, has been laid by us. Before speaking ill of others at least have the courage to own up to our actions. In all fairness, we have to maintain a certain standard of fairness as we expect the same standard from others; otherwise it amounts to being double standard. No matter, the extent of ‘CLEAN ELECTION’ campaign, at the end of the day, for the vast majority of poor people, hardly making ends meet, development will be the last thing in mind and money will be the last thing they will ‘SAY NO TO’. I will not refuse to acknowledge some people who do not sell their votes but unfortunately that too comes with rider, that is, award of contract works or backdoor appointments after winning election in return for their so called "Free Votes". Now, please justify yourselves as to how our representatives can work honestly and efficiently under such “CONDITIONED CONDITION" and decide for yourselves who, to be blamed and who, to be held accountable for all the mess we are in. As for me, our politician’s actions are justified, created and overshadowed by our ‘own individual selfishness’ and we are all responsible for making them “THEM”. Many may or may not agree with me but that's the sad reality of it.
With regard to clean election initiatives of the religious organization, I would say, please do not make a mockery of yourself, as it is like, you seek donations from the politicians for your various activities on one hand and ‘preach your preaching’ to people not to accept money from them on the other. This is the height of hypocrisy; your double standard has been exposed. I say, either "Practice what you Preach" or change your speech. Questions would not have been raised, if you had minded your own business. Please do the needful to set your house in order before even thinking of venturing out on the issue/issues that may prove counterproductive and bring disrepute to your name. I'm not being pessimistic here, let us be practical and try to understand the ground reality. You signing the pledge with the politicians has been so far the joke of the year. You are living in fool’s paradise to even think that these politicians will strictly adhere to your pledge. If you have a real genuine concern for the society as you say and preach, by now, you should have mobilized all your resources for "The Clean Election Campaign", toured all the villages of the state and “SIGNED the PLEDGE with the PEOPLE", not with the "POLITICIANS", who have played politics with you and made a fool of you. Please maintain your sanctity as a religious institution by not meddling in the dirty muds of politics, as the saying goes, “Muddy water is best cleared by leaving it alone”. It’s time we do away with all the hypocrisies, for the best time to start a “NEW BEGINNING”, is “NOW” either with the election or solution.
