MVD launches digital payment services across the state
DIMAPUR — With an objective of boarding on the IT platform all transactions for service and delivery processes, the Motor Vehicle Department, in collaboration with HDFC Bank, has launched digital payment services across the state in all its RTO and DTO offices during a programme held at the Transport Commissionerate in Kohima on July 19.
A DIPR report stated that the initiative would enhance transparency, operational efficiency and speedy service process, speedy delivery and citizen convenience. It would also strengthen the department to better serve the citizens.
The commissioner and secretary of Transport department, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi, launched the service in the presence of Transport commissioner, Elias T Lotha, along with officials from HDFC Bank headed by its cluster head, Lansingam Panmei.
In his speech, Dr. Chusi has termed the initiative as another milestone achievement in harnessing technology in the governance system and in the service of the citizens. He emphasised the importance for meticulous approach in constant upgradation of working methods and systems to finally arrive at total digitisation of transactions and services.
Report stated that with the launch of the service, citizens can now transact digitally the taxes and fees relating to motor vehicles services with debit card, credit card, UPI QR code along with Google pay, PhonePe and Paytm.
